A few years ago, you could find me surrounded by fabric, sewing machines, wool, water and soap, and a vision. I had launched Behind the Seams, my small business creating sustainable cotton and woollen products (it all started with face masks for frontline workers). It was a time filled with learning curves, deadlines, and plenty of late-night creativity.
Then life shifted, motherhood arrived. The hum of sewing machines was replaced with lullabies and nap schedules. As I transitioned into a new chapter of life, I also began to rethink my career path. That’s when I found my way into the world of virtual assistance.
Why My Entrepreneurial Background Matters as a VA
Running my own business taught me skills that go far beyond sewing and product design. I handled everything from:
- Customer service and inquiries
- Bookkeeping and payroll
- Product photography and branding
- Website design and content creation
- Social media strategy
- Grant applications and admin
At the time, they felt like “small business owner tasks,” but in reality, they were the backbone of effective business management. Those skills now fuel my work as a Virtual Assistant, keeping clients organized, on track, and focused on growth.
Bringing People’s Stories to Life
Another passion of mine has always been CV and resume writing. I’ve spent years helping others translate their experience into professional, polished documents that open doors. I quickly realized that resumes aren’t just bullet points they are stories. The same goes for businesses. Behind every small business, there’s a story that deserves to shine. My role as a VA is to help tell that story, whether through organized systems, streamlined workflows, or thoughtful branding.
Always Learning, Always Adapting
These days, when I’m not helping clients, you’ll find me continuing to learn and grow. From digital marketing and SEO to e-commerce tools, I’m always expanding my skills so I can provide more value.
Motherhood has taught me patience, adaptability, and resilience, qualities that are equally important in business. Being a Virtual Assistant isn’t just about ticking tasks off a list. It’s about being reliable, adaptable, and supportive, making life easier for clients so they can focus on what they do best.
My Goal as Your VA
The mission is simple:
Help entrepreneurs and small business owners save time.
Create systems that reduce stress and increase productivity.
Be a trusted partner who cares about your success.
From sewing sustainable products to managing digital workflows, my journey may look unconventional but every step has led me here: helping others thrive by doing what I love.
